When it comes to personal hygiene, most people focus on their hands and behind. These are the two places that tend to get dirty most and need to be cleaned thoroughly. If you don’t keep your rear end free from debris, it can lead to cross-contamination if you touch it with your hand and then touch the face. Also, wiping with toilet paper can exasperate hemorrhoids and cause a rash. You’ve got two primary types of bidets, including a handheld bidet for the toilet and bidet seat. Both versions work well for the task at hand, but there are significant differences, and one may be better for your situation than the other.

Seat Bidet

There are two types of seat bidets. There are toilet bidets, where the sprayer is built-in to the bowl. Such a seat bidets may come build-in as a part of newly purchased toilet. The toilet spray uses the water already in the bowl, so it is imperative to flush first.

The other type of seat bidet is a bidet attachment, which is installed under the rim of the toilet. They do come in various sizes and styles but often fit any regular toilet.  A bidet toilet offers a variety of benefits. For example, you can clean yourself after going to the bathroom without having to use toilet paper. However, it can’t be used on the go or for other applications very well.

Handheld Bidet

You can also find a handheld bidet sprayer for the toilet. This is a handheld bidet version, and it attaches to the side of your toilet tank or to the wall. The water comes from the toilet’s main water valve (at the bottom of the unit). Of course, it can also be used for other purposes than just cleaning your behind after going to the bathroom. Called a shattaf by some – often Muslims – the device can also be utilized as a diaper sprayer. When you have cloth diapers from a newborn or toddler, spray them to rinse them off. This makes it more sanitary to wash them and keeps your washing machine clean.

You may also use it to spray off your baby’s bottom if they have a significant accident in the diaper that gets all over them. Just keep in mind that the water is cold, and it might be a little shocking to your baby.

Another version of the handheld bidet is the portable bidet. It’s designed to be used while traveling or away from home. The bottle portion is squeezed, and the angled spray head then shoots water where you direct it on the behind.

Conclusion

With the use of a bidet, you can keep your rear end clean, even if you don’t have toilet paper. When COVID-19 has been eradicated or a vaccine is created, you can still use a bidet to clean yourself, making it  wise and essential investment.
